Kiln the Drake

Illustration of a terracotta drake. Mushrooms and lichen grow between the plates and along its belly. Gold runs across the cracks in the drake's body.

Sometimes when things feel to complicated and overwhelming, it’s nice to just draw a dragon original character.

Bonus lore for those who like such things:

Formerly deceased forest spirit given new life when their earthen body was fired into a ceramic form.

The fruiting mushrooms can become overwhelming and need to be removed before the cracks appear from the pressure.

The same humans who lost their homes and livelihoods to the fire that also killed who Kiln was are now an active part of maintaining Kiln’s health. Excessive mushrooms are removed, plates are reinforced, and cracks are repaired. Over time Kiln has started to grow more edible and medicinal varieties of fungus, saying that it is happy to give back.
